Somehow managed to get lost in the woods last night while I was running... fail. I've lived here for how many years? Because of budget cuts, our town library will now be closed on Fridays for the rest of the year. I can't even say how upset this makes me (really, I just wanted to go get a book today and now have to wait until tomorrow).

Also, I am still totally jazzed for this piece of action:

For serious, I haven't been this exited over space since 4th/5th grade. Actually a little surprised by how much I remember after a quick brush up too ^_^

I know, right? I was on their website and saw a small section on 'Field Trip to the Moon'. AN ONTD_ST FIELD TRIP IF I'VE EVER SEEN ONE.

Did you ever participate in the program when you were little... half of your group would be in the space craft performing experiments after 'lift off' (there was an actual bridge and stations) and the other half would be mission control, monitoring the experiments and navigational star charts? I thought it was the most amazing thing on earth (har har), when I was little.

ACk, no, I didn't even know about that. Only equivilant I have is this one game at DisneyQuest in Orlando; so, the game goes that an earthen colony has gotten attacked by hostile aliens, and you have to go planet side to rescue them before the bomb's dropped or something to destroy the alien baddies, IDK. But it's a 4 person game, and with 360 screens in a circular landing craft set up, so everyone is facing a different direction. There's one pilot to steer the craft to the protective energy domes keeping the colonists safe, and three gunners to shoot off the aliens attacking your ship/the colonists. AND YOU HAVE TO GET AS MANY COLONISTS AS YOU CAN AND MAKE IT TO THE RENDEZVOUS POINT BEFORE THE PLANET GETS BLOWN TO HELL.

I FRICKIN' LOVE THAT GAME. There have been times I've played with total strangers, and the 4 of us have TOTALLY GOTTEN INTO IT. And holy shit, nothing makes your stomach drop faster than realizing that like, 2 colonists didn't run to your craft fast enough and you can see them in the distance!--

Yea. I get WAY to into it.

THAT needs to be an ONTD_st field trip. That, and the "Mission to Mars" ride in EPCOT. Heh, don't suppose we can convince Disney it would be awesome PR to let us in for free, eh?

Oh, man. Yours sounds much more intense than mine. I had friends go down for spring break and I remember them speaking about this. I think they were stationed as the pilot and gunners. It sounds so great, I wish we could all make a field trip down there. I would be just as into it, I'm sure. SAVE THE COLONISTS, SAVE THE WORLD.

Ours was exciting because it looked like a replica of a bridge (captain's chair! captain's chair!) and had this long, star filled tunnel you had to walk through to enter it. The room would be very loud and shake a little bit during take off (This was pretty elaborate. I think it's in Boston?). I was at the science station! I had a little robotic crane I had to use to perform sensitive experiments on rocks! SCORE.

Alas, I don't think Disney would be down for that. MISSION TO MARS. I WONDER IF WE WOULD ENCOUNTER STRANGE ALIEN WOMEN AND ROCK MONSTERS?! I don't know if you've seen 'A Very Potter Musical'... excuse me if you haven't, but... PIG FARTS, PIG FARTS HERE I COME. PIG FARTS, PIG FARTS YUM YUM YUM.

The planetarium is pretty much my all time favorite place in New York.

I'm glad we're going, then! I haven't been.... the last time I was at the museum we walked by it. I gave it a long of longing gazes, but couldn't afford it. SOON!

I'm so excited that you're having your planetarium first time with us! You always want your first time to be special, after all :-)

SO excited for that. I think we should wander around the museum for a bit beforehand.
